Session 1 – The Gathering
25 years have passed since the Giant Wars shattered the Northeast kingdom, earning the name the Shattered North for reals. Although the lands were scarred, life along the massive Cliffton River has begun to recover. In fact the city of Krell has flourished and swollen to an enormous size, possibly the largest city in all of Dal’thyn. In early September of the year 1156 of the Fourth Age, a mysterious Rogue named Starslip burglarized a small obscure curator department in the massive University of Arcanaus.

Three obscure relics and the documents related to these items were taken. A month later, the leader of a secret sect of Ioun (the paragon of knowledge), Guardious Mythica, and named Father Thomas gathered young, inexperienced adventures to recover these items and investigated what has happened from a member of that curating department, a loner named Cid.

The young and inexperienced group consisted of 4 members, Salazar Brightwood an older human magic using sage recently fired from his curating position at the University, Rose Wildcloak, a young Halfling monk training to become a “Seeker” for Ioun, Claira Waterleaf, a sickly Firbolg woman who love and passion as a Druid is herbalism, and Pascal, a charismatic human bard.

Under Father’s Thomas’s direction, the party met with a scoundrel named Dominic Zallaros at the East Dockside district alehouse called The Cold Spray. There they learned of Starslip, who was hired independently of the guilds to steal the 3 relics and notes, and later given to a Fence named Benjie. Also they learn Benjie owns and works out of Esco Shipping and Storage nearby.

At this point, Pascal gathered the party’s resources and created a persona of a potential buyer and visited Benjie with Rose in tow while Claira and Salazar observed. Inside, Pascal made impressive charisma checks in which he was able to bribe Benjie with 60 gold and a personal Favor IOU for the information he needed. Pascal learned that the items were shipped 2 ½ weeks ago to the town of Port Protection accompied by a man named Cid and a group of transporters provide by Benjie. The entire transaction had been paid up front in full.

And that is where we ended our session.

Session 2 – Travelling to Port Protection

Now with a lead, the party begins to prepare for the long journey to the city of Port Protection. They did some limited shopping, gathering up food, travelling and cold weather clothes and information.

They meet a talkative shop keeper named Kelso (older, fat and friendly). Kelso speaks of a rumor that there is mercenary work at the town of Ironridge, as it has being rebuilt from being flatten by Giants 25 years ago. Then it tells the party another rumor about Bandits attacking travelers along the Plains Road. Supposedly these bandits are led by a cruel dwarf named Dirk Copperhands.

Eventually the party heads out, passing hordes of merchant caravans, pilgrims and travelers looking to gain entrance into the city of Krell before the onset of winter. By the end of the day the party past by most of the travelers and farmlands outside of Northbridge (the most northern district of Krell across the ageing Northbridge built nearly 4 centuries ago) and camp just off the side of the road.

The next day is met with cold winds, rain and chilly temperatures as the mid-autumn approaches. The day is boring, passing through rough plains that are loosely covered in yellowed grasses, thick spiny sage brush and small groves and copses of nearly leafless trees.

Late that night, from a small grove of Aspen trees, the party is ambushed by a small party of 5 bandits, all dirty, gaunt and with an aura of desperation. The battle was long, brutal and for some, traumatic. The party burned the bodies after looting them and set off later in the morning.

At the end of the 3rd day, the party ended their journey at the roadside Inn known as Clifftop View Inn, owned by an ancient dwarf and retired adventure, Malreck Goldarm. Malreck is known famously as a gracious host, fair man and hardworking, making his Inn a very popular and welcome site to many. Also he is known to ‘adopt’ strays, homeless and down on their luck souls, given them a home, bed and food in exchange for working at his Inn. Many have come and gone through Malreck’s impromptu ‘orphanage’.

Here the party rests, attempting to engage in conversation with a few interesting individuals at the Inn. Claira attempts to speak to primitive looking Blue scaled Dragonborn woman wrapped in furs and leaning against an axe handle. She was not interested in conversation.

Salazar attempted to talk to an Elven Mage named Dr. Luscious Ahmarrow, who humored him for a bit, while Pascal sat outside and played his guitar for all who would listen.

In the morning the party headed out, following a large road that skirted along the steep rocky cliffs looking out over the ocean for half the day. Eventually the party came to Port Protection, a small seaside city of 8,000 souls.

After attaining a room at the Wicker Goat inn, the party head to the streets looking for the address given to them by the Fence Benjie. But after a few hours of fruitless searching, the party discover a small supply store where by chance they bump into a Half-orc named Krag. Krag tells the party the address they are looking for is a part of the abandon portion of the city to the north, an old abandoned large mansion overlooking the sea four miles to the north along the old Stormview road. It has been abandoned since the Giant Wars 25 years previously.

Also, Krag explains, it was once owned by an old mysterious Alchemist, and is currently believed to be haunted. And that is where we left off until next time.

XP – Milestone

Treasure – A set of bronze merchant scales, 20 cp, 28 sp, and 6 gp.
