Religion in the new world -

The lands between the Shattered North and the uncivilized western Frontierlands to the ancient Southern kingdoms (and most of the races that live in these lands) all pay homage to a single faith. The creators of Life and builders of the world as its known, Gaia the Allmother, the Lifegiver and Lightbringer and her husband, Odin the Allfather, Worldbuilder, protector the Heavens.

The last 2000 years of recorded history speak of these 2 deities and how they created the world Eons ago, and originally roamed the land living among their creations. History and the Tome of Light speak of when the Gods lived on Earth, it was Paradise. But this was eventually corrupted by the Old Ones and the Darkness inbetween the stars. Over thousands of years, The gods and the races they created battled the Old Ones, Gods from another world and their Dark spawn, the Voidlords.

This war was come to be known as the Great War. Most of the details of the war are lost in time, but some of the more ancient races (like Elves and Dragons and such) still tell tales of this massive conflict. During the war, many heroes of all races came forward, and were dubbed Radiant Knights, leaders who lead the Armies of light in the name of the Allmother and Allfather.

At the end of the war, the Armies of Light succeded in driving the Old Ones away and encasing the world in a magical divine Barrier that shields this world from otherworldly intrustions. The Voidlords and Voidspawn were either slain or wrangled together and inprisoned deep inside the earth.

The races grew strong and intelligent, learned to survive, to love and to hate. They built cities, grew gardens and dug tunnels. All for the glory of the Allmother. They worshipped her, their Goddess, and she walked among them. Nurturing them, loving them, bestowing them with Light, Life and Magic.

But below the earth, the Voidlords stirred, Raged, screamed against their prison. Then they began to corrupt it with their chaotic nature, Alien ways and blood. Slowly but surely this corruption seeped into the surface, not something physical, but no less evil or tangent.

It called to the races, and slowly they started to change in ways the Goddess could not imagine. Dragons changed colors and persona's. Elves skin blackend and they fleed to the dark to listen to the Voidlords babbling madness. Dwarves dug too deep and swam in corrupting slime draining them of color and sight. Humans began to worship the Void beasts like gods, forsaken the Lightbringer.

Soon war broke out between the uncorrupted Light races and the insane foul corrupted. This war raged for decades across the entire land. Extraordinary men and women became Raidiant Knights, powerful warriors, wizards and priest who lead the Light races, eventually driving the Alien hordes back down to the world's core.
But the prison was broken, and the dwindling number of Light Races were weakening in strength and resolve.

So the Goddess did what she must, and sacerficed herself and her light filled blood upon the earth, to fortify and encase the prison for eternity.
The Allfather, the world and the races cried out in Anguish as the light around the earth dimmed ever so slightly. Then the spirit of the Lightbringer appeared in the sky, taking with her the Raidiant knights and all the lost souls to her new home, the celesterial heaven built by the Allfather.

The faith of Light, as it is called in current day, is strong through out the world, but not the only faith. Many also pay homage to individual Radiant Knights who have become Demi-gods in a sense, idolizing a single trait they were famous for. For example, the Radiant Knight Kellsharr was a human warrior who valued freedom and free will above everthing else.

But also there are many Light Priest who worship the Allmother and Father, and teach from the Tome of Light to the masses. And many devout warriors who scour the land in search the land for the Voidlord taint, purging from the world. But the Voidlords are tenacious, and history is full of tales or Void worshippers and rampaging escaped Voidspawn, many summoned by insane cultist.

Many monstrous creatures do not worship the Allmother though, or some, like the Chromatic Dragons, worship paticular Voidlords, like Tiamat, instead.

Player: I set off the trap with my glaive.
DM: A massive Girallon appears bellowing in your face while he charges. *rolls a pair of 20 dice* Double 20's!! *rolls more dice* Umm........hmmmm.....well.........
Player: What?
DM: Well, apparently this Girallon is related to Chewbacca. The monster tears off both your arms and beats your character to death with is own arms.
Player Fuck you Kyle.
